Vday Gift Idea
I hope everyone's had a fantastic and lovely vday this past weekend, I know I did.
This Valentines Day, I decided to make the mister a custom t-shirt. Although I think he wouldve liked the more lovey-dovey-couple-style design, I decided to take the challenge to the next level and draw Master Chief. And to my surprise, it came out quite nice, considering it was my first time and had only one shot at it.
Its quite easy and affordable, and makes the cutest/thoughtful gift. All you will need to buy is:
1. Fabric Marker (art supply stores)
2. Plain Tee (Zara, H&M, American Apparel)
 |
First of all, I put the tshirt over a pillow giving me a smooth surface to work on. I then placed this printout of Master Chief underneath the tshirt. I also put a thick paper underneath the image to keep it sturdy and so that the ink wouldnt transfer onto my pillow. You can take a tablet or some sort of light reflecting object, I used my iphone, underneath the image so that you can see the outline more clearly, and start tracing away with your fabric marker. |
 |
It is easier to dot the outline instead of actually drawing out the line or else you may encounter pulling and tugging of the shirt. Depending on the image, this will take a lot of patience and concentration so take your time and be a perfectionist. As soon as you have your outline, carefully colour in the parts that need to be coloured through a vertical stroke. Horizontal strokes will pull and tug the shirt. |
 |
Once complete, carefully iron the ink so that it will set. This will prevent it from bleeding when you wash it. And let it dry for a good 24hour, if possible. |
 |
The design is an inside joke between him and I and he seemed to really like it and find it funny. It's a cute gift idea that has so much thought and effort so if you're clueless of what to get them, try it out! |
